A promotional conference was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on March 6 for the 2017 South-Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) to be held in Kunming, Yunnan province from June 12 to 18.

The SSACEIF is the joint effort of the China Chamber of International Commerce, the South Asian Chamber of Commerce, the ASEAN-China Centre and China-South Asia Expo secretariat.

Some 8,000 modular exhibition stands will be staged in 18 halls at the 180,000-square-meter area for commodity display and communications during the SSACEIF in Yunnan, who shares a border with Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. Commerce associations from South and Southeast Asian countries will be invited to introduce their policies and projects to seek cooperation for coordinated development.

"Yunnan has gradually become a regional financial hub since it was officially launched as one of the two border pilot zones for comprehensive financial reforms in 2013," said Gao Shuxun, an official of the SSACEIF executive committee.

About 75 countries and regions have been included within Yunnan's cross-border yuan transaction system, allowing enterprises to make full use of both domestic and foreign markets to pool funds and improve the efficiency of financial operations thanks to the internationalization of RMB.
