A selection campaign to look for the top 10 most beautiful forests in Guangdong province has ended, and Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve is on the list, Zhanjiang Daily reported on Dec 23.

The selection was launched on Aug 23. The final list was selected from thousands of nature reserves, forest parks, wetland parks and scenic spots. The award winners represent the highest level of Guangdong forest ecology.

The Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve covers a total area of 20,278 hectares, more than 9,000 of which are mangrove forest. It accounts for 33 percent of the country's total mangrove forest area and 79 percent of Guangdong's total.

It is the largest mangrove natural reserve with the most varieties and the largest density on the Chinese mainland.

Currently, Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve is accelerating infrastructure construction and improving scientific research strength, aiming to become an international well-known national nature reserve with multifunction and more benefits.
