The secretariat of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) donated on Aug 7 a total of 100,000 yuan ($15,510) to help the Myanmar people hit by a flood disaster.

Wu Mintun, consul general of the Myanmar consulate in Nanning, received the donation on behalf of Myanmar in the donation ceremony.

He expressed gratitude to CAEXPO Secretariat and said that the timely aid reaffirmed the friendship between China and Myanmar. Although the continuous rainfall caused severe flooding in 12 out of 14 Myanmar provinces, the preparations for the 12th CAEXPO is still in orderly progress.

Wang Lei, secretary general of CAEXPO Secretariat, said that the CAEXPO received vigorous support and active participation from all walks of life in Myanmar. He hoped that the CAEXPO's efforts could partly compensate the losses of Myanmar exhibitors and play a role in the rescue and reconstruction.
