Manager: China key role in Würth development

Founded in September 2008, Würth (Shenyang) Hardware and Tools Co. Ltd. is located in the Shenyang European Union Economic Development Zone, and its sales region covers Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces. In 2010, Würth Shenyang attained a sales volume of 12 million yuan, a 70 percent increase over that of 2009, making it the fast-growing subsidiary of Würth China.

Moreover, Würth China has established its only innovation center in Shenyang to train employees and offer products training services for its clients.

On the first Würth China customer day held in Shenyang, China Daily reporter Liu Ce talked with Christoph Ladurner, General Manager Würth (China) Holding Co., Ltd, on the company's development strategy in the country.

Q:What's the main function of the innovation center in Shenyang?

A: It's the only one in China. Every new employee will come to the center for a two-week training. The training includes Würth's culture and history, inside strategies and so on. After the training, they'll have their certificates then move back to their companies. So training is the main function of the innovation center here. Also, we will offer some free training to our customers around China on how to use our products or how to make our products work well.

Q: As we know, Shenyang is not a first-tier city in China. Why did Würth choose Shenyang for its innovation center?

A: The Würth Industrial Park in Shenyang is the biggest one in China and it has become a model. The city has a solid industry foundation and great potential. Maybe it's not central in China, but it's already an important location for us to showcase our products for our customers and our employees.

Q: As you mentioned, Würth Shenyang and, indeed, Würth China did a great job last year. What advantages enabled the company to reach such good sales figures?

A: 90 percent of success comes from our people. We go directly to the customers; so the customer doesn't need to move to get their product - not to our shop, not to a dealer. Our employees are always rushing from one customer to another in order to build good relationships with them and understand exactly what they need. Service is the most important thing. Second is quality. Quality brings us worldwide fame and it is very important for users. The product and quality goes hand-in-hand.

Q: China is becoming one of the biggest markets in the world. Thus, there are many opportunities in the country. I want to know, what role does China play in Würth's global strategy?

A: The growth of China plays a fundamental role in the future development of our company. Actually, we plan to reach a sales volume of 1 billion yuan within the next three years. On achieving this goal, we'll be amongst the top 10 companies of the Würth Group. We'll invest much to achieve this goal, and the innovation center here will contribute a lot by training customers. We want our customers to learn how to use our products in the right way; the more our customers know about us, the closer we are getting to our goal.
