An anti-piracy drive has been launched by the Bureau of Civil Affairs in the Hi-Tech area of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, to mark 11th World Copyright Day on April 26.

The workers of the Tianfu Software Zone signed their names on a board in a bid to resist piracy and protect self-innovation.

The theme of this drive is the Ongoing Copyright Demonstration Zone in the Hi-Tech Area in Chengdu.

Promotion of intellectual property rights is also being performed in some streets and plazas throughout the city. It is reported that the area has taken full measures to protect copyright since 2007.

The Tianfu Software Zone Copyright Workstation was founded in 2007 with the help of the related authorities. The move made knowledge and services of intellectual property right accessible to enterprises, making it more convenient to deal with the copyright issues.

The Chengdu Workstation of China Copyright Agent Center was introduced in the Tianfu Software Zone of the Hi-Tech Area in Chengdu in February, 2009, following efforts to build a pilot copyright city for the nation.

The workstation provides a fast lane to enterprises concerning copyright issues.

In recent years, the Hi-Tech Area has been probing the methods of using copyright and patents for mortgages, creating a new financing channel for small and medium-sized businesses.

According to the staff, 1,245 software items had been registered by the end of 2010, assisting with 591 copyright issues.

Now, the Hi-Tech Area is researching supporting policies for correlated businesses. It plans to increase the support for enterprises to register software as well as improve the efficiency in dealing with copyright violations, which can reduce the costs.
