Tea fair brews in Kunming

The sixth international Puer tea fair kicked off in Kunming on April 22. More than 200 enterprises and hundreds of people gathered at the exhibition as well as several Taiwan investment groups who took part in the tea fair for the first time.

The fair follows the theme of sharing healthy Puer tea with the world. Exhibitors may trade teas, exchange experience and cooperate with each other. Companies exhibited their tea sets and tea packaging including several cities and prefectures that produce tea attended the event to promote their distinctive tea industries and tea culture.

Tea is a traditional industry of Yunnan providing one of the biggest incomes for farmers. In 2010, the tea-planting area reached more than 918,032 acres, ranking No1 in China, and annual tea output was 200,000 tons, the second in China. Integrated value of tea reached 15 billion Yuan.

The natural environment of Yunnan province is suitable for growing tea. Yunnan tea, represented by Puer, has attracted more people from home and abroad with its distinctive flavor and quality.
