BEIJING – The IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics and IMS Health China have announced a new initiative to develop local partnerships with leading universities, research institutions and government agencies to reinforce the value of information and analytics in decision making across a range of healthcare issues in China.
This unique initiative will leverage collaborative relationships in the public and private sectors to deliver objective, relevant insights and research to advance China's health agenda.
"The transformation of healthcare systems to better serve the needs of patients worldwide can be energized through a tighter linkage between information and decisions," said Murray Aitken, who heads the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics.
"Through the Institute, we have a tremendous opportunity to ensure that the best available information – including IMS's unparalleled global data and analytical assets –is applied in China as critical reforms are undertaken," he said.
The IMS China Institute for Healthcare Informatics (IMS China Institute) will focus its operations in two primary areas:
The China Health Services Research Network (CHSRN) will conduct research in collaboration with Chinese government bodies, as well as institutes that support the government on healthcare matters.
Secondly, it will apply evidence-based information to drive a research agenda dedicated to addressing today’s healthcare challenges and enhancing the role of information in policymaking and healthcare improvement in China.
"The IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics has a specific focus in China, with the IMS China Institute prioritizing health services research and professional training through cooperation with government agencies," said Davey Han, director general, IMS China Institute.
"My colleagues and I are delighted and very enthusiastic about advancing this distinctive agenda. We are committed to accelerating healthcare development in China in collaboration with the country’s healthcare stakeholders," he noted.
The IMS Institute also will issue its first comprehensive global research report, HealthIQ – The Frontiers of Healthcare Advancement. The publication will be widely available in China and offers an updated assessment of patterns and effects in the diffusion of innovation; an overview of evolving techniques and approaches in comparative effectiveness research; a review of the impact of regulatory advisories and guidelines on clinical practice; and a summary of insights from a decade of medication adherence research.
