2010-2011 Anhui Bozhou Winter Tour Opening Ceremony held

On the afternoon of December 11, the 2010-2011 Anhui (Bozhou) Winter Tour Opening Ceremony was held in a square at the Bozhou Huaxi Building ("Engraved Drama Stage") scenic spot. Nearly 1,000 people, including Zhang Xueping - deputy director of Anhui Provincial Tourism Administration, Tang Yong - vice mayor of Bozhou, Yang Limin – director of Bozhou Municipal Tourism Administration and other leaders, as well as domestic and foreign businessmen, media and tourists from were present at the ceremony.

At the ceremony, celebrations that the Huaxi Building had entered into the ranks of national AAAA tourist areas, along with the initiation ceremony of CCTV10 “New City Experience – Bozhou” were also held.

The Bozhou Winter Tour Opening Ceremony, also known as the North Anhui leg, is the third leg of the Anhui Winter Tour opening Ceremonies. Before it, Anhui Provincial Tourism Administration held South Anhui and Central Anhui winter tour opening ceremonies in Huangshan city and Chaohu city on December 9 and December 10, respectively.

Bozhou is located in northern Anhui and borders Henan, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces. It covers 8,374 square kilometers and has a population of 5.90 million. Bozhou has Guoyang county, Mengcheng county, Lixin county and Jiaocheng district under its administration.

Bozhou is famous for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and hot springs with special health enhancing properties. It is also a cradle of Taoist culture, and is also home to a great many local liquors. It has previously been awarded honors for being a famous historical and cultural city in China, home of martial arts in China, a liquor base in China, a world-renowned TCM health preservation city, an excellent tourist city in China, and a central tourist city in North Anhui.

Bozhou now has 23 important heritage sites under state and provincial protection and 37 developed and opened scenic areas. The famous scenic areas are Cao Cao’s Underground Military Tunnel, Cao Cao’s Clan Tombs, Chen Tuan’s Home, Zhuang Zi Temple, Hua Tuo Memorial Hall, the TCM Museum, Chinese Medicinal Materials Trading Center, Nanjingxiang Money House, Huaxi Building, and the Gujing Liquor Culture Museum.

In recent years, Bozhou Municipal Tourism Administration introduced the Three Kingdoms culture tour, Taoist culture tour, health preservation tour, folk culture tour and other characteristic tourist routes. The rich historical and cultural resources have won Bozhou the reputation of being a place to “Enjoy the Mountains and Waters of the Yellow Mountain in South Anhui and Appreciate the Culture of Bozhou in North Anhui”.

Meanwhile, in order to encourage travel agencies to bring tourists to Bozhou, Bozhou offers some incentives. Specifically, if a non-local travel agency brings a tourist group of above 50 tourists to Bozhou for a one-day tour, it will be awarded 500 yuan; if the number of tourists is above 100, it will be awarded 1,500 yuan; if the number is above 200, it will be awarded 6,000 yuan; if the number is above 300, it will be awarded 10,000 yuan; if the number is above 400, it will be awarded 20,000 yuan. Similar incentives are offered for two-day tours.
