2010-2011 Anhui Hot Spring Winter Tour Opening Ceremony held

2010-2011 Anhui (Hot Spring) Winter Tour Opening Ceremony was ceremoniously held at Lujiang Golden Peacock Spa Resort, Chaohu.

On the afternoon of December 10, following the Huangshan Winter Tour opening Ceremony heralding the beginning of the Anhui Winter Tour, the 2010-2011 Anhui (Hot Spring) Winter Tour Opening Ceremony was one again ceremoniously held at Lujiang Golden Peacock Spa Resort, Chaohu.

Nearly 100 people including Zhang Xueping - deputy director of Anhui Provincial Tourism Administration, Wu Liangsi – vice mayor of Chaohu city, Wang Liang – director of Chaohu Municipal Tourism Administration and other leaders, along with domestic and foreign businessmen and media were present at the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Xueping - deputy director of Anhui Provincial Tourism Administration gave a speech on the future development of Anhui’s abundant hot spring tourist resources. In recent years, Anhui has been accelerating the development of its hot springs. Hot spring tourist products are getting more popular by the day, as the brand becomes more well-known, and it is hoped that hot spring tourism will become an Anhui winter tourism brand.

It is understood that Chaohu is the place with the greatest number of hot springs in Anhui, and hot spring tourism has become one of the city’s most popular tourism products. In recent years, Chaohu continues to intensify the development and utilization of its hot spring resources. A number of hot spring projects are currently under construction in the area. In October 2009, Chaohu was officially recognized as “A Land of Hot Springs in China” by the China Mining Association. It is the 17th recipient of this title in China and is the only area in Anhui to have been honored with this award.

According to historical records, Chaohu has a long history of hot spring development. Hot water bathing pools were known as “Pit Pools” in the ancient times, and were first developed in the Western Han Dynasty. Fragrant Hot Springs was named “Prince Pool” in the ancient times, and was developed in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Bantang Hot Spring was called “land of nine good fortunes” in the ancient times, and was developed in the Sui Dynasty. Luo Yin, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, visited here once and wrote a poem entitled “Fish, and those who wash their feet here, know the temperature of the water”.
