Jinchuan to offer grand prize for tourism photographers

Jinchuan County in Sichuan Province which was hit in the devastating earthquake on May 12, 2008 has set up a grand prize for photographers focusing their lens on its tourism resources.

According to Zhang Haiqing, Party chief of Jinchuan, any photographer or photography lover in the world could enter their names for a photo competition lasting from this November to December next year.

The county has set up a grand prize for the competition whose total prize money is 240,000 yuan (US$35,821)) and top prize is 100,000 yuan.

It is so far the highest prize money for tourism photography in West China,Zhang said. Located in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan, Jinchuan is known for maple leaves in November, ice and snow in January and pear flowers in March.
