Pop singer Zhang Liangying will hold her solo concert in her native city of Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Oct 1.

It will be part of her 2010 I Believe world tour, which whirls through cities such as Chengdu and Tianjin before a rousing finale in Sydney, Australia.

On August 21, Zhang sang in the Wukesong Arena in Beijing and was well received by the audience. The arena, known as the home of the stars, has seen some of the most luminous names in international music.

To promote sales of her tickets for the Chengdu concert, Zhang signed tickets in Pixian, a county under the administration of Chengdu, on Monday afternoon.

Due to her fame, fans flocked to the ticket-signing site and vied to shake hands with her. As a result, the signing ceremony ended sooner than planned..

Although Zhang was the first Chinese singer invited to walk the red carpet at the Grammys, it all started with a humble beginning at the Super Girl competition in 2005, an attempt by Hunan Television to identify local level talent.

Zhang won third place in the final and the show became a stepping-stone to a phenomenal career.

Since then, Zhang has left behind her previous life singing in bars in Chengdu to become the next big thing.
