A Hungarian art show opened August 24 at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art to present the development of Hungarian art and culture.

The show, which runs until September 5, is first to display the "Faces and Fights" series by the well-known Hungarian photographer Robert Capa, said Samuel Kung, director of the museum.

On display are also a selection of work from the most talented contemporary photographers, entitled "LIVE SYNC," Kung said.

Meanwhile, varieties of animation films are to be screened, including The Fly, which won an Oscar prize in 1981, and Matyi the Goose Boy which is famous with Chinese audiences.

Hungarian female designer Kati Zoob brought her new fashion collections to the show to echo Shanghai Fashion Week, he said.

The show also presents visitors with multiple styles of painting by contemporary artists on ten huge models of the Gomboc, the central element of the Hungarian Pavilion.

In the realm of architecture, visitors can explore three buildings of Laszlo Hudec, who designed China's first tallest building, the Park Hotel, in a virtual three-dimensional realization, learning from the Interactive Knowledge Base that contains all the information about his architecture.

People can sit in the big music installation "Music Dome" to listen to the music they choose and appreciate the musical scores printed on the surface of the dome, reviewing the achievements in the world history of music made by Hungarians, he said.

"We have this event to introduce the Hungarian art to Shanghai residents and visitors from all over the world, hoping to make their life better," Kung said.
