The company, a subsidiary of Shenzhen-listed Elec-Tech International, has been aiming to become a global integrated LED solution provider since 2008, when it mapped out its strategy to pour more efforts into R&D, sales service and innovation in Chinese-made LED facilities.

It won its fame for providing a 10,000-square-meter giant LED screen for the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Expo on April 30, ensuring the successful operation of the grand outdoor performance across the Huangpu River. The screen, at a cost of 100 million yuan (US$14.8 million), is the largest LED screen so far in the world.

"We hope that within three years' time, Retop will become one of the top-3 largest LED screen makers in the world, through our advantage in technologies in the energy-saving and environmental-protection areas," Shi Yaozhong, chairman of Retop, told China Daily.

LED screens from Retop, a Shanghai Expo LED screen sponsor, can also be found inside the Expo Garden in areas such as the Expo Square, US Pavilion, Indonesia Pavilion, and the City Square in Puxi.

Shi revealed that the company is also working to further tap the North America market by joining hands with Panasonic North America, and the two sides will co-launch Panasonic-Retop LED screens, targeting stadiums in the US.
