Global gathering of forestry experts talk sustainability

Renowned forest scientists traveled across the world to the Southwest Forestry University (SWFU) in Kunming to take part in Training Workshop on Forestry and Rural Sustainable Development.

Forest experts from all over the globe have flocked to China to attend the August 31-September 20 workshop. The conference will focus on development practices for forest scientists among other topics, said Dr Liu Huimin,director of the Southwest Forestry University.

The director of CFS (Center for Community Forestry Studies), SWFU Lai Qingkui said one of the capstones of the experience will be a 7-day field excursion. There the group will focus on the management and development of utilizing forest resources, while discussing mountain development, he said.

Participants in the workshop came from more than 10 countries including, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and Vietnam.
