Qingdao metro plan gets go-ahead

Updated: 2009-08-19 16:30 The Qingdao metro construction plan received authorization by the state government August 18, allowing Qingdao urban metro construction to enter the implementation phase. According to the plan, eight lines totaling 231.5 km will be constructed in seven districts in Qingdao. The M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 lines will be built in urban districts, the M6 and M7 in Huangdao district (situated on the west bank of Jiaozhou Bay), and the M8 will be constructed in Hongdao district. Phase I and Phase II projects covering 54.7 km with an investment of 29.2 billion yuan are scheduled to be completed before 2016. |
