A delegation led by Fujian vice governor Chen Hua met with the Taiwan Red Cross on August 10, offering sympathy to those affected by Typhoon Morakot and announcing humanitarian aid will be sent to disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan by the Fujian Red Cross.

Chen is leading the Fujian trade and cultural exchange delegation to Taiwan for an exchange and inspection visit. Aware of the severe situation in central and south Taiwan due to Morakot, Chen said she spared time in visiting the Taiwan Red Cross to show her concern to Taiwan compatriots dealing with the typhoon’s aftermath.

The Fujian Red Cross will give humanitarian aid to Taiwan disaster areas through the Taiwan Red Cross, according to Chen Hua.

Morakot severely impacted Taiwan, particularly the central and southern areas.

Chen added the Taiwan Red Cross visit to her delegation visit route, hoping to convey Fujian people’s sympathy to their Taiwan compatriots, she said.
