Tianjin ready for International Children's Culture & Art Festival

Updated: 2009-07-27 15:33 Young talents from more than 30 countries and regions around the world will gather in China's northern coastal municipality of Tianjin for the 2009 Tianjin International Children's Culture & Art Festival at the end of this month. "As one of the most important international event for children's culture and art, this year's Tianjin International Children's Culture & Art Festival will not only provide a platform for international communication, but also serve as a bridge for friendship and understanding," Zhao Qian, director-general of the Cathay Future Foundation, said on Thursday July 23rd on a press conference. Jointly sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Municipal Government of Tianjin, the 2009 Tianjin International Children's Culture & Art Festival will be held in Tianjin from July 25 to July 30. Young artists of 39 youth art organizations from 36 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, France and Germany, as well as 24 domestic youth art organizations, will be attending. The total number of attendants this year is expected to exceed 2000. This year's festival is also an international get-together party. Children from different parts of the world will have a good time in a rich variety of events, including "Meet in Binhai" World Children Celebration, the 5th International Children's Painting Exhibition, art troupe's performance and the 4th World Children's Great Wall Climbing Race. Since its launch in 1998, the Tianjin International Children's Art & Culture Festival has been successfully held for six times before. Under the banner of "Peace, Friendship and Future", the festival is more than an event of international art communication. "The Tianjin International Children's Culture & Art Festival has become a window of Tianjin," said Wang Jinsheng, Deputy Secretary-general of Tianjin Municipal committee of the CPC, on Thursday's press conference, "It offers the world a chance to know Tianjin, and an opportunity for Tianjin to embrace the world." |
