Samut Prakan crowned City of Charm

Updated: 2009-07-15 12:03 Samut Prakan, one of Thailand’s major trading ports, has been confirmed as the City of Charm of Thailand for the 6th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), which will be held this October in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Samut Prakan governor Khwanchai Wongnitikon said the government will arrange as many enterprises as possible to attend the Expo. During the CAEXPO, the city will demonstrate its comprehensive features and achievements in trade, investment, tourism and cultural development. Situated near the Thai capital of Bangkok, Samut Prakan boasts flourishing industry and commerce. Its Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the major air travel hubs in Southern Asia. Three other ASEAN countries have also been confirmed as Cities of Charm: Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei Darussalam, Surabaya in Indonesia, and the City of Singapore, Singapore.
