The nation’s first ever Kazak language news portal made its debut yesterday in Urumqi, capital city of Xinjiiang, Uygur autonomous region.

The website, kazak.xjts.cn, is the Kazak language version of www.tianshannet.com, a news portal based in Urumqi providing comprehensive information about Xinjiang.

Kazak.xjts.cn aims at becoming the main online Xinjiang-related information provider for Kazak netizens both inside and outside Xinjiang.

In addition to the Kazak ethnic minority people dwelling in northern Xinjiang, the target audience of the website also includes the Kazak-speaking population in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia, which share long borders with Xinjiang.

The Kazak portal consists of four channels and 40 sub-columns, covering undated social, political and economic news, along with tourism and local traditional information about Xinjiang.

The website is authorized to carry out reporting and news gathering, and features trail-blazing technology which transfers Kazak language contents into Slavic and Latin text automatically, a beneficial way for online readers of the other two languages who live adjacent to the region.
