Over ten thousand people sang the national anthem together at the opening of the China Nie Er Music Week on June 12, 2009.

The music week was approved by Central Propaganda Department as one of the major cultural activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic China.

The opening ceremony kicked off at Nie Er Music Plaza in Yuxi City of Yunnan province.

Many of the ten thousand people who sang the national anthem found it very emotional.

"It makes my blood boil every time I hear the national anthem," said an 80-year-old woman.

"I admire Nie Er as a musician," she said.

The gala opening ceremony of music week "Song forward" will be held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing June 12, 2009. Many other events, including the closing ceremony named as "All the People of One Mind", will be held from June 12 to 18 in Yuxi.
