The three-day 2009 North China Travel Fair began in Yantai, East China’s Shandong province yesterday, with an expected turn-out of 100,000 people.

Covering 30,000 square meters, the fair’s exhibition area features 1,528 booths offered, of which 130 are set by overseas agencies.

Travel agencies and enterprises across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and those from ten other countries and regions including Korea, Japan, Malaysia, America, France and Russia will attend the fair.

The fair will see travel cooperation plans signed among the ten provinces and autonomous regions and close cooperation endorsed by the National Tourism Administration and Shandong People’s Government, as well as a batch of cultural travel activities.

As a regional travel fair, the North China Travel Fair is jointly organized by tourism administrations and travel associations in ten provinces and autonomous regions, including Beijing, Tianjin, Henan, Hebei, Shandong and Inner Mongolia.

Successfully held 13 times since 1996, the fair is now ranked with China International Travel Mart and China Domestic Travel Fair as one of the three largest travel fairs in China.
