The 2009 China Dalian Import & Export Commodities Fair and Dalian International Industrial Expo will be held between May 25 and27 inthe coastal city of northeastern Liaoning province.

The Dalian fair provides a good platform for trade and has been listed by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade as one of the six exhibition events with emphatic state support, said Li Bozhou, head of the Dalian Council for the Promotion of International Trade, at a press conference on Monday.

“As a result of the nation-wide promotion, many domestic provinces like Shandong,Shanxi, and Inner Mongoliaare sending delegations to the fair,” Li introduced.

According to Li, the organizing committee reduced or remitted some administrative fees to better serve the exhibitors and help them work through current difficulties.

“It is worth mentioning that exhibitors from Taiwan rose to 40 from last year’s 30,” According to Li.

In order to cope with the impact of the global financial crisis, the organizing committee has taken a series of measurements, including running the fair economically and promoting the fair around China, said Li.

Equipment manufacturers and purchasers from more than 20 countries and regions, including Japan, South Korea, Russia, America, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan will attend the fair, Chen said.

Initiatedin 1987, the Dalian fair has grown into an important platform for import and export in Northeast China.
