Spanish Gastronomic Festival opens in Shenyang

The seven-day Spanish Gastronomic Festival kicked off at the Shenyang Traders Hotel in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning province on April 20, where traditional Spanish food and genuine Spanish grape wines will be on offer.

Spanish gastronomy, with its intense Mediterranean style, not only consists of food but also symbolizes Spanish culture. Spanish guest chef Joaquin Campos will be offering his signature dishes at the festival’s lunch and dinner buffets.

“Chinese and Spanish foods have similarities in materials, but the way of cooking is different. We never cook spicy food. And we always use olive oil, onion, curry as well as wine to keep flavor,” said Campos.

In order to create a Spanish atmosphere, the hotel’s Traders Café has been decked out in all things Spanish, including staff dressed in elaborately designed Spanish clothes. Guests can enjoy Spain’s passionate lifestyle as well as its romantic dining culture at the Spanish Gastronomic Festival.
