It has been almost a year since the Sichuan earthquake on May 12, 2008. In Pengzhou, one of the worst-hit areas, more than 120 members of Fujian Aiding Group and thousands of designers and construction workers are currently working tirelessly on various public infrastructure and social service projects. They are working against time to complete the projects to help residents live a better life.

After the quake, the progress and quality of projects by Fujian Aiding Group is number one among all aiding groups. Several records have been set up by the rebuilding projects and the initial three years’ construction period is expected to be shortened to two years.

On July 20th, 2008, Fujian completed the construction of 36522 barracks assigned by the country 20 days ahead of time, and is the first one to complete the layout of the rebuilding projects in three years. On November 11th, 2008, Xiaoyudong Waterworks was topped off, taking 84 days in total. It was the first completed public infrastructure built by aiding groups from all parts of the country.

According to the layout made by Fujian, 106 projects will be built in Pengzhou, in which 47 have been launched spending 1.1 billion yuan in total. 115 sites for settlement have been in construction with an expenditure of 740 million in total.

According to Zhuang Jiahan, the Chief Director of Fujian Aiding Group, by the first anniversary of the earthquake, more than 30 projects will be completed and put into use. By the end this year, 99 projects will be put into use. And the full completion of the 106 projects is set by the next May 12th, the second anniversary of earthquake.
