Fujian Aiding Group mourns earthquake victims

A memorial ceremony was held on April 3 by Fujian Aiding Group for the reconstruction of Sichuan, commemorating the victims of the May 12th earthquake. The ceremony took place in Xiejiadian, Longmen Mountain town of Pengzhou city, during the traditional Qingming festival (Tomb-sweeping Day). Longmen Mountain town lies right on the Longmen fault line, and was one of the areas hardest hit by the earthquake. Xiejiadian, a village with some 70 houses, was buried instantly in the quake and 68 people lost their lives.

Fujian province has allocated reconstruction work for Pengzhou city. Projects involving public infrastructure and social services that were urgently needed were soon installed by Fujian Aiding Group after the earthquake. So far, 47 package projects (invested and constructed completely by Fujian) have been launched, including 15 roads, nine schools, four bridges, five waterworks, seven kindergartens, one healthcare station, four broadcasting stations and two retired houses. Ten projects have been completed, at a total investment of 1.1 billion yuan. The quality of Fujian Aiding Group projects are at the top among all aiding groups.
