A 10-million-yuan scholarship was jointly launched by Tsinghua International School and the International Department of Fudan Attachment Middle School at the founding ceremony of the Tsinghua school on Friday.

The scholarship applies to students of all the twelve grades to support the finest international students.

China is becoming the destination of development for more and more its overseas returnees and foreign experts amid the ongoing global economic downturn. Educational environment with both internationalized service and Chinese traditional culture is the top concern of this group of people who have been abroad for long.

Doctor Liu Junbo, executive principle of Tsinghua International School said the scholarship aimed to help those international talents who chose to remain in China amid the global economic crisis. "It is the first time for Chinese schools to offer scholarship for foreign pupils and middle school students. We do this to attract more international students and keep them stay in China," Liu said.

According to Wang Dian Jun, principle of the High School attached to Tsinghua University, the international school would provide scholarships ranging from 10 to 50 percent of the total tuition and 30% of the students will get scholarships every year.

Unlike the city's other international schools which are located near the airport, the foundation of Tsinghua International school will be good news for those students who live in the rest part of the city.
