Liaison officers to help foreigners with visas

Foreigners working in Shenyang,Liaoning province can now apply for visa and residence permits with the help of liaison officers, according to a new guideline issued by the city’s police bureau.

A network of liaison officers has been set up in foreign and foreign-related firms and colleges by local police authorities in Shenyang. With the assistance of liaison officers, foreign applicants will no longer have to go through the lengthy procedure in person.

It is estimated that more than 300 foreigners so far, ranging from investors, administrative staff and technical professionals, have applied for residence permits for themselves and their family members via liaison officers. Presently, more than 130 trainees have been granted a liaison officer certificate after passing the examination.
