Miner who swapped big digs to raise pigs

A former coal worker from Ningshan county, Shaanxi province, is reaping the benefits after ditching the mines for swine.

Tan Guoqing decided to leave the mining industry in 2007 and move back home to start a pig farm. And after help from the local government, he saw his annual net income increase to more than 20,000 yuan ($2,920) last year.

More and more farmers are moving back to their hometowns to work as the global financial crisis affects jobs across China.
