Hallucination leads to long-distance bus attack
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-02-11 11:26 A man who attacked fellow passengers on a long-distance bus ride had a history of mental illness and was hallucinating he was surrounded by assassins at the time. The man started beating and pushing people during a journey from Nanjing in Jiangsu province to Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, and claimed everyone around him wanted to kill him. Police took him off the bus and gave him tea to help him calm down. The man, who had received treatment for mental illness in the past, later apologized for the incident. Police urged people suffering with a mental disorder to travel with friends or family when taking overcrowded long-distance buses during peak hours, such as during the Spring Festival holidays. |
