Boy gets award for his selfless charity

An 11-year-old student was awarded with a prize by the municipal government in Tianjin for donating more than 60,000 yuan ($8,780) to disaster stricken students.

Zhou Yukun was inspired to give after his aunt donated 1,500 yuan to poor rural pupils in Qingshui, Gansu province.

He has donated cash that his parents and relatives gave him as lunar new year gifts. He also stopped buying new toys and snacks and donated the money.

After the Sichuan province earthquake, he and his grandfather took 6,000 exercise books, 6,000 pencils and food for the young survivors.
