Henan's preparations for cultural exchange with Australia in full swing

Updated: 2009-01-21 09:53 Central China’s Henan province will showcase its Shaolin martial arts, tourist attractions and investment projects to Australians during an eight-day cultural exchange event that starts on Monday (January 26). Organizers are putting the final touches to the first ever cultural and business promotional activitiy that China’s most populated province has ever held abroad, according to Lu Dawei, secretary-general of the organizing committee. The event is scheduled to inaugurate in Sydney on January 26, coinciding with both China’s Lunar New Year Day and the Austrilia Day, Du told a press conference in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital on Tuesday. During the promotional activity, the Henan delegation and Australian enterprises are expected to sign trade agreements vauled at $2.6 billion, according to sources at the press conference. The province is also planned to ink a pact with New South Wales to forge friendly relations. Artists from Henan will treat Australians with a float parade and musical and dance performances. The event was approved by Chinese ministries of foreign affairs and culture. |
