Son arrested for attacking and stealing from mother

A 20-year-old man in Jiangmen, Guangdong province, was recently arrested after he attacked his own mother and then stole from her.

Wu Gang struck his mother, surnamed Yi, until she became faint and then robbed her safe after she refused to give him 20,000 yuan ($2,930).

The safe also contained jewelry and cash, said Yi, who runs a store in a local poultry bazaar.

Wu was detained five hours later after Yi sought help from police. Police said it was the first time in that city that they have detained a suspect who robbed his own mother.
