A dancing art museum named after Yao Zhuzhu, a famous dancer in China, opened in Nanxun Town of Zhejiang Province today. Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC, sent a congratulatory letter to celebrate the opening of the museum, saying the museum is not only a reflection of her personal artistic achievements but also the glorious course of China's dancing development. "The museum will play an active role in popularizing dancing and art education and in flourishing the socialist art," Jia said in his letter. He wished the museum will become a window to displaying the socialist artistic achievements. The museum displays more than 300 valuable photos Yao has collected to reflect her artistic career in the past 56 years, said Zhu Beide, former Nanxun Party Secretary, who is in charge of the museum preparations. Zhu said Yao is known for her collection of dancing and artistic materials. The photos she donates to the museum tell visitors the development course of China's dancing. In the museum are showed as well 120 pieces of dancing articles including clothes, shoes and documents, Zhu said. The 400-square-meter museum also exhibits more than 40 calligraphic works and pictures donated by well-known Chinese calligraphers and painters such as Ye Qianyu, Wu Zuoren, Ding Cong, Huang Miaozi, Zhang Guangyu, Jin Shangyi, Yang Zhiguang and Rong Rui. Famous sculptor Qian Shaowu has sculptured a dancing bronze statue for Yao Zhuzhu, which stands in the center of the museum. Painter Ye Wulin has created two pictures for the museum with one called Life and the other called Youth. Yao, born in Nanxun, is the first generation of dancers trained by New China. She learned dancing at the age of eight and danced in the big song and dance epic "The East Is Red." She has been awarded many times in the national dancing competitions. |
