Cross-strait seminar held at Xi’an Jiaotong University

Updated: 2008-10-31 17:30 XI’AN: The Second Seminar on Micron and Nano Technology across the Taiwan Straits has been held at the Xi’an Jiaotong University in this capital of Shaanxi Province. The seminar, sponsored by the Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Microelectronics of Beijing University, has drawn scholars and experts on micron and nano technology from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. “With the rise of the micron and nano technology in the globe, both sides across the Taiwan Straits are willing to cooperate and exchange with each other,” said Lu Bingheng, dean of the School of Machinery at the Xi’an Jiaotong University. Seventeen experts from Taiwan attended the seminar which started on Monday and they brought 15 articles on the latest achievements and reports of this field in order to show the key points in the recent research. Professor Fan Long-sheng from Taiwan Qinghua University said the trip of Xi’an was not only the academic exchange but a journey of experiencing construction and culture on the Chinese mainland. Before the seminar started at the Xi’an Jiaotong University, a three-day cross-strait discussion pertaining to the micro and nano technology was held in Beijing. The discussion and seminar held in Beijing and Xi’an have been aimed at building the platform for communication, expanding professional resources of human talents and discussing hot topics in the field. In the technical exchange, there were 27 academic reports related to nano such as materials, sense organ and mini CMOS. |
