Nearly 200 Japanese businesses will exhibit their products next week in Dalian, an official with the local sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said on Thursday in the coastal city of northeast China’s Liaoning province.

To be held from October 22 to 23, the 2008 Dalian Sino-Japan Trade and Investment Fair aims to promote the trade between companies of the two countries, said Li Bozhou, chairman of CCPIT’s Dalian sub-council.

“All the exhibitors to the fair are Japan-based or Japan-invested companies. It is the first of its kind that attracts so many Japanese companies and products,” Li introduced.

A total of 178 Japanese companies, including 31 from aquatic industry, will exhibit almost 1,000 kinds of products, covering foods, light industrial products, textiles, and many other fields.

The fair is also expected to attract more than 3,000 attendees from the domestic cities.

Dalian is playing a more important role in promoting the economic and trade exchange between Chinese and Japanese small-and medium-sized enterprises,” said Li.

The city held “Dalian Week” in Japan in 2006. Last year, a “Japan Week” was organized in Dalian in return. Through these activities, Dalian builds a platform for the bilateral cooperation.
