A green declaration announced in Shanghai

Putuo District in Shanghai today announces its Zhenru Declaration for Green Environment, echoing its effort to build the city's last business subcenter.

Shanghai has completed three of its four subcenters which are located at Xujiahui in Xuhui District, Wujiaochang in Yangpu District and Huamu in Pudong New Area respectively.

The declaration says that urban development should have new criteria for outlines and construction and need new urban management.

As an important part of the city's urban development strategy, Zhenru business subcenter will be built to meet requirements set by the declaration, said Cai Zhiqiang, director of Putuo district government.

The Zhenru subcenter which covers an area of 6.21 square kilometers will become a base for industrial, technological and modern logistics centers, said Cai.

An ecological and friendly environment will be created to attract multinational companies to base their headquarters at Zhenru where they can serve the Yangtze Delta region,'' said Cai.

The district has worked out green criterion for the subcenter project, said He Zhiqi, general manager of the Zhenru City Subcenter Development Investment Co Ltd.

Such companies as Changjiang Industry and CapitaLand have committed to save resources and protect the environment from contaminated in building the project, He said.
