Resource-rich city beckons investors from home and abroad

The reserves provide ample supply for developing wood processing and paper pulp industries. Meanwhile, a great number of products from the forest, like star anise and fennel, are known for their large quantity and good quality. The local special food products have won the city a reputation as natural flora warehouse. Tourism Baise is endowed with rich tourism resources, including historical heritage, natural landscape and ethnic culture. Among them is the Heaven Pits, a cluster of karst funnels located at Leye county. The biggest is 613 m deep and has 96,000 sq m of virgin forest at its bottom. There is also a 100-m high waterfall in the pit and caves with two underground rivers - one hot and the other cold. Rare creatures also add the charm to the natural wonders of the area. The great Tongling valley contains waterfall more than 160 m high and other tourist destinations. Both were developed by a private firm. At present, the city has four 4A-level scenic spots that attracted 5.31 million tourists and generated 2.45 billion yuan in revenues last year. (China Daily 06/07/2008 page12)
