'Buddha's Halo' appears in Xinjiang

A "Buddha Halo' shows up in the sky above Denggan Mountain located to the west side of Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake), Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, July 24, 2010. The natural phenomenon of atmospheric optics is a solar halo resulting from the refraction of light penetrating ice crystals in the clouds. Halos can be white or colorful. The spectacle of "Buddha Halo" can only show up when sunlight, observers and cloud or fog are in a line, so it is a rare phenomenon. [Photo/Chinanews.com]
