Sri Lankan boys ordained as monks

Buddhist monk as he get ready for a ceremony to be ordained as a samanera or
novice Buddhist monks in Colombo May 26, 2007. Although the minimum age to be
ordained as Buddhist monks is 20 years old, boys under that age are allowed to
be invested as novices. Novices shave their heads, wear yellow robes, and
