Xie Mo was born in 1962 in Haikou, South China's Hainan Province. He finished his studies of shipbuilding and design at Jiatong University in Shanghai, and then had his first camera in 1989. Four years later, he opened "Chun Se", a studio specialising in black & white portraits in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province.

Xie Mo has specialised in portraits but readily photographs dance and landscapes as well. In 2001, he was chosen as the Hasselblad Masters. Xie's work appeared in the Hasselblad Calendar for 2001 where it says, "Xie Mo reminds us what fashion is really all about - feeling good about ourselves."

In his writings, Xie Mo said that he divided those women who take nude photography into four groups. First, women who are proud of their body shape after giving brith to a baby. Second, mother-to-be women who are worried of not getting back in shape. Third, pre-marriage women who are worried of losing free time after marriage. The last group are those who are confident of themselves and want to show the beauty of human body. [Photo by courtesy ofwww.cphoto.net]
