China dominates diving

With six golds already in the bag, China is on it’s way to sweeping all eight Olympic diving events.

He Chong won the men’s 3m springboard with 572.9 points yesterday while Guo Jingjing took the women’s 3m springboard Sunday. China dominated all four men’s and women’s synchronized diving events last week.

The Chinese diving team claimed five golds at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and a record six at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Olympic prayer

Bahrain’s Rashid Ramzi fell to his knees after running the men’s 1500m – but he wasn’t injured.

The sprinter was praying after he won Bahrain’s first-ever Olympic gold medal at the Bird’s Nest last night.

Ramzi clocked in at 3:32.94, just pulling ahead of Kenya's Asbel Kipruto Kiprop, who claimed silver with a time of 3:33.11.

New Zealand's Nicolas Willis won bronze with a time of 3:34.16.

Yao furious over benching

Netball’s Yao Ming is seething after sitting out the majority of China’s 91-77 loss to Greece.

The superstar only played 16 minutes of Monday’s match as coach Jonas Kazlauskas hoped to rest him for today’s quarterfinal against Lithuania.

The win over Greece would have given China a three-win, two-loss record in Olympic play, ensuring at least a sixth-place finish regardless of the outcome of today's game.
