Comment on "US and the Net in these Orwellian times" (China Daily, May 24)

I just stumbled upon this excellent piece by Philip J. Cunningham, and agree that there two laws for the world - one for the United States and one for the rest of the world.

But it must be said that this dichotomy has deepened after the rise of emerging countries, with respect for truth becoming an unrespectable vocation.

From "homeland security" to "extraordinary renditions", Orwellian language has flourished in the new United States.

The end of this new world order - and restoration of the US' promises - will determine not only the future of the US, but that of the world as well. In short, we need more writers like Cunningham to expose the "emperor without clothes".
