Comment on "Arms of the law must act stronger" (March 31, China Daily)

It is a well-written article. Laws are useless unless they are enforced strictly. But that does not mean every person should live under the fear of being penalized.

An even bigger problem we should pay attention to is the anti-social, inconsiderate and selfish behaviors some people show when they talk about traffic violations.

For example, people should not drive in emergency traffic lanes, because it can block emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines which need to reach accident sites as fast as possible to save lives and help the injured. But in reality if an ambulance with siren and flashlights approaches from behind, not a single driver yields space for it to pass by.

I would like such drivers to think that (God forbid) even they could be in an ambulance or lying or stranded somewhere in need of medical or other help when someone like them may be blocking an ambulance or a fire engine on some flank of road and increasing the chances of their death.
