The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission have jointly issued a new guideline for the ideological and political education of State-owned and State-holding enterprises and their employees. The move is aimed at maintaining the competitiveness of the State-owned and State-holding enterprises, says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:
State-owned and State-holding enterprises have to adjust to the changing social and economic conditions. They have to introduce the corporate shareholding system, deal with the large inflow of migrant and displaced workers, and help change the work ethics of their staff members.
All these developments pose a challenge to their traditional ideological and political education. In fact, the ideological and political education of State-owned and State-holding enterprises has certain loopholes. Their current education, to a certain degree, lacks the ideological and political awareness that present times demand.
Hence, it is necessary to advance the level of ideological and political education among State-owned and State-holding enterprises to make them aware of the prevailing social, economic and political conditions. The education they receive should address the new psychological characteristics and interests of their staff members. And given the importance of and overwhelming use of the Internet, the enterprises should diversify their educational channels.
To disseminate ideological and political education among staff members, the enterprises should follow the people-first policy and create conditions necessary for their employees to work to their full potential.
Also, as part of the ideological and political education, the State-owned and State-holding enterprises should help their staff members better understand some burning issues, such as social security and housing, to ensure that they are fully aware of the prevailing social and political conditions.
This is very important because only by fully realizing the benefit-based interrelationship among the State, enterprises and the people can the State-owned and State-holding enterprises' staff members better fulfil their responsibilities.
