Student reunions are a striking feature at the end of academic sessions every year. But this year, students are under greater pressure to talk about their life, which has triggered a reunion phobia, says an article on scol.com.cn. Excerpts:

Generally, students' reunions bring back memories of old times among the participants. But if such get-togethers turn into a comparative display of wealth, they will definitely lose their positive meaning, and might even break a friendship.

Comparisons and naked displays of wealth are the main reasons for the reunion phobia among students of yesterday.

Many of today's rich people didn't acquire their wealth by following the principle of "knowledge changes one's life".

Many such people fail to evaluate themselves and show off their wealth at class reunions to satisfy their vanity.

The widening gap between the rich and the poor has aggravated this anomaly. Though people who are belittled are at the receiving end, it is the rich who paint a pathetic picture at such reunions.

The rich show off because of their lack of social responsibility and foresight.

But reunion phobia victims have no need to feel inferior, because the wealthy people are the real losers.
