Comment on "Chinese drivers stuck in record traffic jam" (China Daily, Aug 25)

I have traveled many times on the route that runs from Beijing to the northern part of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. During this time of the year, there are always traffic jams on the route.

The reason for the latest traffic jam is not just the construction of a road, which will be completed only next month. The main reason is that there are many unnecessary "checks" on the road, which prompts drivers to leave or stop on the highway several times within a few kilometers.

In addition, truck drivers always violate the traffic rules even on the highway, leading to a chaos. The authorities should do everything possible to change the situation.
