Comment on "Huge manhunt nails suspected cop killer" (China Daily, July 9)

I feel sorry the for two officers who were killed on duty. But with all due respect, I doubt whether "bravery" is the word to describe their deaths.

Police service is a noble career. I respect policemen as civil servants and guards. In this case, inspecting a car, which was without a license plate, was what their job required them to do. And that they were shot was a heartbreaking disaster rather than a daring choice. They must have worked as "faithful guards". Therefore, using colorful words to laud them for their "bravery" is actually insulting their deaths.
