Break corrupt officials' back

Comment on "Former official executed by lethal injection" (China Daily, July 8)

The authorities have to make more efforts to curb corruption and crime and prevent the social environment from degenerating sharply.

Many corrupt local officials seem to believe in an old Chinese saying, "the heaven is high and the emperor is far away". They take this as a license to indulge in nefarious activities. Such officials are a threat to society. The central government should launch a relentless fight against corruption and crime to root out the evil practices from officialdom.
