People should be encouraged to donate for charity. But a donor should pay more attention to how his money is being used for more satisfactory results, says an article in Nanfang Daily. Excerpts:

Media reports say Guangdong province may pass a new code for charity activities. It is likely to make charity activities more transparent and grant donors the right of stricter supervision so that they can play a more important role in how and on what or whom the donations are spent.

Every person should support this encouraging move. In the past, donors were neither willing nor able to know how their money was spent. In fact, many charity organizations wasted a lot of the donations they received, while people in urgent need of help could not get it.

Donation is much more than sending relief to people in need. Helping the needy to acquire the ability of coping with problems is more essential. And that requires donors and charity organizations both to have a deeper sense of responsibility about the money they spend.
