Programs for people seeking life partners are being held more frequently. But when such activities become money-spinners for millionaires only, they threaten social morality, says an article on Xinhuanet. Excerpts:
New seek-a-partner programs were held in several big cities recently. This time, the women were not in control. Every woman participant had to pass fierce competitions before facing one of the 18 male candidates, all of who were multi-millionaires.
Such programs over-emphasize the advantages of wealth in getting a suitable life partner and denigrate women, reducing them to objects. Therefore, the extreme popularity of such programs reflects the twisted mentality of our society today.
The naked exhibition of money is making millions of people want to become like those 18 men on show. When people start trying to satisfy their greed for money and power without a thought to values and hard work, they become a threat to social morality.
